Temporary road closure on N1 southbound

National Route 1 (N1) southbound is temporarily closed to traffic between the Golden Highway and Misgund Interchanges in the Soweto area. The closure is due to a crane that fell that was erecting a road sign gantry at 11h00 today (Friday, 14 August 2012). This caused the signage post to block the N1 Southbound carriageway. No road users were injured as a result of the incident. Measures to clear the affected area are already underway and the road is expected to be fully reopened by 15h00 this afternoon. The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) apologises for any inconvenience caused.
